X-RAY

WHAT TO EXPECT

An X-ray is a fast, simple imaging test that uses a very small amount of radiation to produce images of the inside of your body. It is commonly used to examine bones, the chest, and some organs.

HOW TO PREPARE

X-rays usually require little to no preparation.

You may be asked to:

  • Remove jewellery or metal objects

  • Wear clothing without metal fastenings where possible

  • Inform the radiographer if there is any chance you may be pregnant

Our team will guide you clearly on the day.

DURING YOUR X-RAY

  • The radiographer will position you carefully

  • The image takes only a few seconds

  • You may be asked to hold your breath briefly

  • The procedure is painless

AFTER THE X-RAY

  • You can return to your normal activities immediately

  • A radiologist will review the images and send a report to your doctor
